      In the summer of 2022, my sister, mom, and I traveled to Greece and Italy. During our time there, one of the  historical sites we were able to visit was the island Imeri Gramvousa right off the coast of Crete, Greece. I took a photo of the Gramvousa Fortress, the main attraction on the island. It is an important part of Cretan history because it was the first part of Crete that was liberated from Ottoman rule and served as a shelter for more than 3,000 people, due to its impenetrable walls. The fortress also had a huge role in Greek revolution fights for independence from the Turks.
