       The above photo shows people performing one of the major classical dances of Nepal, that is Bhairab dance. As bhaktapur is the city of Newars, Bhairab naach is one of the major dancing cultures here. Bhairab Naach is an ancient masked dance performed by the newar community in the Kathmandu valley of Nepal, especially in Bhaktapur as part of different Jatras(Festivals) and named after Bhairava(Bhairab) an aspect of Lord shiva.Bhairav is a form of the god Shiva and Kali, and Bhairab dance manifests the dreadful destructive mood of kali and how Bhairava(Shiva) saved the world from destruction. Bhairab Dance is a major cultural dance that reflects our cultural and traditional significance.
